Nuclear Gauge Training

Technicians will receive the guidance they need to safely and effectively operate a nuclear gauge and satisfy Nuclear Regulatory Agency training requirements provided a firm's nuclear license permits training by qualifiedindividuals other than suppliers' personnel. The Program examines radiologicalsafety, atomic structure, radiation characteristics, radiation's interaction with matter, techniques for measuring radioactivity, standard temperature and pressure, principles and practices of radiation protection and obtaining and maintaining required permits, badges, and licenses.

The Program also provides an overview of gauge measurement theories, describes effective gauge calibration techniques, offers insight into proper procedures for taking field measurements with gauges and relates proven procedures for maintaining gauges on site and in the laboratory.

Technicians should bring a calculator with a square root function to the training session. A written test is given at the conclusion of the program. Technicians who successfully pass the exam receive a certificate and documentation of training.
