WACEL Training Programs

WACEL has developed a comprehensive one-day training program for Concrete Level I Technicians, Soil Level I Technicians and for use of the Nuclear Gauge that meets NRC training requirements.

Concrete Level I

WACEL's Concrete Level I Technician examines measurement systems, physical constants, sampling and proportioning, test method review, field operations and reporting.

Technicians receive guidance to understand the requirements of each section and obtain the knowledge they need by working through specific examples, performing the necessary calculations and responding to sample questions and typical field scenarios. This outstanding program not only shows how to perform specific tests and procedures but explains the reasons why they are performed and their importance to the success of a project.

Each technician will receive a comprehensive workbook that can be used in the field and in the lab as a constant reference source to help improve daily operations and expand the technicians understanding of the technical requirements associated with concrete sampling and testing.

Prerequisites for Training

Submission of an application signed by the applicant's supervisor that attests to the fact that the applicant has performed or has witnessed the following tests on at least two occasions:

  • Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field (C 31)
  • Unit Weight, Yield and Air Content (Gravimetric) of Concrete (C 138)
  • Slump of Hydraulic Cement Concrete (C 143)
  • Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete(C 172)
  • Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Volummetric Method (C-173)
  • Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Pressure Method (C 231)
  • Temperature of Freshly Mixed Portland Cement Concrete (C 1064)
Schedule

Training classes are generally held on the fourth Saturday of every month.
